About Me

My name is Karen Byrd. I have a life long LOVE for the outdoors and nature! His favorite past times are sun naps, sniffing out critters on our daily adventures together, and cross country skiing with my husband of 19 years. I am the mama of two beautiful humans, two cats, eight chickens, five fish and three hermit crabs.

Professionally, I enjoy supporting client’s on their journey to better health. About Coorie Lintu Counseling

Coorie is an old Scottish word, typically used as a verb that means to nestle or cuddle in, to get cozy. It is often said as, “coorie in or coorie doon”, to find warmth and comfort in harsh weather. Lintu is the Finnish word for Byrd. My husband’s family immigrated to America in the early 1900’s. Their Finnish surname was Lintula, meaning flock of birds. Today we use the surname Byrd.

Coorie Lintu Counseling has been cultivated from the knowledge and wisdom that I have acquired through my 20 plus years as a mental health counselor. First and foremost, it comes from having had the honor and privilege of supporting and working with some of the most resilient, kind, and inspiring human beings, my past and present clients. The education and trainings I have participated in and completed, also lead and shape me, as well as, my own personal growth and healing experiences.

My goal is to create a safe space for client’s to heal from emotional wounds, grieve losses, learn how to better love and care for themselves, and to move forward in their lives, living well.

Initial consultations are complementary, 20 minute conversations via telephone or Google Meet to discuss your current needs and determine if my services would be the right fit for you.
